Northern CA - Great short ride - approx 150 miles - 4 to 5 hours with a stop or two.
Leave from French Camp Rd and 99 or
somewhere in Manteca (Starbucks at shopping center at 99 and Yosemite Rd).
Head down French Camp Rd (J9) to Jack Tone Rd. Then head East along Lone
Tree Rd and then make a SE bend onto Valley Home Rd (120) which turns into
Yosemite Ave. and ride into Oakdale. In the middle of Oakdale, turn East
and stay on 120/108 all the way to La Grange Rd. Turn South and stay on La
Grange Rd. and pass through the intersection at 132 and stay South on La Grange
Rd until you get to 59. Turn West for a few blocks on 59 and enter the small
town of Snelling. There is a good hamburger stop at the cafe in town.
We return by way of backtracking up La Grange Rd to 132 and then turning
West along 132 until get to Crabtree Rd and turn North again. Crabtree runs
North and turns into Willms Rd and then North until you again reach 120/108.
From there we backtrack through
Oakdale and back along Lone Tree towards Jack Tone where we started and then on
into
Manteca. Gas at Oakdale and Snelling. Nice country roads, winding
curves and straights, not too much traffic, watch out for livestock.

Southern CA Day Ride
There is one ride that I like to take about once a month or so. It is from the Bakers Burgers in Beaumont, Calif. Heading west on I-10 for a short distance (and the last of the interstate for this 250 mile ride) to highway 111 towards Palm Springs. We continue thru P.S. Cat City, Rancho Mirage to highway 86 south in Indio (which is a good place to fuel a butt break water or coffee as it is a distance to the next). From Indio we head south down 86 to Salton City (great views of the lake along 86) and to S-22 towards Borrego Springs. S-22 is a nice single lane road thru the foothills to the town. There is a nice little restaurant there where you can eat or just get coffee. From Borrego we continue a short distance to S-3 south to highway 78 west towards Julian. Julian is a nice mountain town known for its apples, (great pie places there) shops and a gathering point for motorcycles. This is a good rest point for the butt and a lunch or just pie and drinks, plus a little shopping. From Julian we continue on highway 78 to the junction of highway 79 north. We travel about 10 miles to highway 76 and head west for about 2 miles to a place called the Hideout. If it is a nice day expect about 500 bikes there any Saturday or Sunday. They have great burgers cold beer and drinks, plus usually craft booths and occasionally bands. From the Hideout we head back east on Highway 76 to Highway 79 north again. We pass thru Warner Springs and continue north to Route 3 (R-3) north to Hemet. On R-3 we wind thru some nice foothills with good views (watch your speed, sharp and no warning at times) to the south side of Hemet. From Hemet we continue up State street to the Ramona Expressway east to Highway 79 again north thru Lams Canyon and back to Bakers Burgers in Beaumont. I try to ride most every Saturday a length of 125 to 300 miles, mostly on the back roads. To ride contact me at StarRider5thblk@msn.com I usually leave Bakers about 8A or so. With the longer rides on the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of the month.
